WALKING WITH STRANGERS

That night,

I walked.

The street lights, Lean snakes

with gallant fireflies caught in its throat.

The silence was only in my head.

The cold, with its rigid, and casual temper

Yet, hot air exited strangers with rapid thrush.

… and  laughter, random conversation, the clatter of car doors, and slammed windows,

made me feel content and included with the roaming shuffle of night.

I was happy to be walking down this street,

with the lights, and with strangers.
