Don’t get me wrong, grammar is a very important part in writing but I sometimes believe we get too caught up in grammatical mistakes and hit ourselves over the head for it. Yes it is true, grammar can get your point across more smoothly and let the reader grasp what you are saying more accurately. It is neccessary to some extent. But I believe some of us get so caught up in minor grammatical errors that it can take away from the whole basis of the poem, or whatever writing that you are working on. We all have our methods of writing, and one quote that really stood out to me is this :
“Writing is an act of faith, not a trick of grammar.” ~ E.B. White
I write because I love writing … and as long as I interpret it the way that pleases me … I’m alright with that. Maybe its selfish but sometimes its important to write for ourselves instead of the reader … Many of you may disagree, but that’s quite alright.
